Have you ever been to he Algonquin Logging Museum Trail? Up until last February, I had never been there and was quite surprised there was a trail in the Park, that I didn't know about. Of course, had to rectify that quickly. The trail starts off around the side of the actual logging museum, which isn't open in the winter, unlike the trail. Some of the trees are marked with that types they are, which [...]

I woke up on a Sunday to a beautiful day with a great forecast and for the first time in a long time, I had nothing to do! I thought about what to do and settled on a nice relaxing paddle in my kayak. The weekend before this one, I was at  Ontario Sea Kayak Center to take my Instructor Course and I needed a stress free fun paddle today. I thought about all the [...]

Ever since my first trip with Kevin Callan, The Happy Camper, in June of this year, there has been a challenge set forth for Kevin the (mostly) canoeist to go on a kayaking trip with me.  Our second trip over the Canada 150 long weekend, brought us canoeing once again, but I was promised a kayaking trip at some point and I was going to make sure it happened, no matter how short or the location. [...]

This winter I spent a few hours exploring the Scout  Valley Loop Trail .   After I put the post up, one of my blog followers, Ray, sent me a message advising me I should check out Copeland Forest  sometime when I had a free day.  Well, last Sunday, that free day came,  so off I went to explore Copeland Forest. It was a lovely winter/almost spring day. The temperature at Copeland forest when I [...]

Ever since my visit to Arrowhead last year  I have been dying to go back again.  When I was in Niagara for Christmas, I had a visit with my friend Andrea, who had been trying to come see me in Muskoka since I'd moved,  but hadn't made it yet.  We devised a plan and this Saturday, was the day we were going to visit Arrowhead with one of our other awesome friends Kim. As Valentines day [...]

It was a gorgeous November day and I spent most of it paddling off of East Beach.  It wasn't dark yet though and I still had some time to get in a hiking trail before night fell. Might as well visit my favorite trail in the park, Whiskey Rapids. The trail is only 2.1 km's and just the right size for the time I had before it would start getting dark. I am not sure [...]

Since moving to Muskoka and making the drive to Bracebridge for groceries and supplies, etc, I have noticed a sign along highway 118 that says Huckleberry Rock Trail, but until today, I had not investigated it.  I was really glad I did because it's a pretty nice place! It was the day of the Tragically Hip concert, their farewell show in Kingston. I had originally had plans to go camping with some friends but things [...]

As many of you know, last spring I applied for Canada's Dream Job with Woods Canada.  The contest brought forward almost 4000 applicants and out of those people, I sadly was not chosen.  Melba Seto and Adam Kochanek were chosen and they were absolutely awesome! I followed along with the Woods Explorers every step of their journey and was so involved, Woods even sent me a set of Woods Explorer shirts for myself and my mom [...]
