The other day, while visiting with my friend Sam for dinner, she told me about some trails nearby.  The trails are called the Humphrey Nature Trails and they were literally around the corner from where we had dinner at Whatta Pizza.  I was very glad she showed me where the actual trail head was, because it was hidden behind the fire station.  I decided I would come back and explore the trails on the following [...]

In June, 2017, I was invited to participate in the Women on Water event.  It was a wonderful event and during my time there, I met a lovely lady named Eileen. Eileen was there by herself and I went over to introduce myself and talk to her a bit about her pink hair. She had put it in for the weekend to show she was a wild woman and I thought it was very cool, [...]

Have you ever been to he Algonquin Logging Museum Trail? Up until last February, I had never been there and was quite surprised there was a trail in the Park, that I didn't know about. Of course, had to rectify that quickly. The trail starts off around the side of the actual logging museum, which isn't open in the winter, unlike the trail. Some of the trees are marked with that types they are, which [...]

I woke up to a gorgeous winter day and decided I would take advantage. I was so tired of sitting at home and waiting for my concussion to be over with, so off I went! I packed my backpack, some water, a few snacks and headed over to Hardy Lake Provincial Park which is about a 20 minute drive from where I live. Hardy Lake is a lovely provincial park with a few different trail [...]

With another long weekend fast approaching, it was time to devise a new plan. A 5 day solo canoe trip was in order and I wanted it to be as awesome as my Algonquin trip had been.  It would be hard to surpass but I believed I had the groundwork for another epic journey! After many nights of planning and consulting a few people who knew the area, making revisions and calculating kilometers and portage [...]

I had been wanting to visit Wye Marsh for over a year now. On Sunday, a beautiful spring day, that visit finally happened. My friends Sam and Shylo had also wanted to go. So we picked a day and headed down to check out what Wye Marsh is all about. We paid the admission fee of $11.00 plus person, plus tax. I found it a bit steep but once I found out what the admission [...]

Have you ever been to Torrance Barrens Dark Sky Reserve in Torrance? I headed there on Saturday to check out the trails and go for a short hike. I had been there in the fall with some friends, and another time in the summer,  and really enjoyed the area. I stopped to take a photo of rose petals strewn out over some rocks near a campsite.  I hoped it was a good experience someone [...]

Life has been busy at Camper Christina's headquarters.  LOL.  As you may have read somewhere, I am taking my Level one instructor course with Ontario Sea Kayak Centre in a few weeks and am very excited!  Due to this, I am in study mode and even have pre-homework for the course. LOTS of homework actually. Sadly, there aren't enough hours in the day and sometimes I have to curb my exploring desire and stay home [...]
