Ever since my visit to Arrowhead last year  I have been dying to go back again.  When I was in Niagara for Christmas, I had a visit with my friend Andrea, who had been trying to come see me in Muskoka since I'd moved,  but hadn't made it yet.  We devised a plan and this Saturday, was the day we were going to visit Arrowhead with one of our other awesome friends Kim. As Valentines day [...]

Since I moved to Port Carling in May, my mom has not been to visit.  She doesn't have a vehicle and getting a bus or train here isn't really the best option.  As it takes me about 3 hours to get to her and 3 hours to get back, going to pick her up, and drop her off has not been an option either, so it's been tough. We haven't been able to do much [...]

My dad provided me with the perfect word to describe the last few weeks, bittersweet.    It seems no matter how good something is, there is almost always something bad that goes along with it. It also depends on if you choose to see it, or just focus on the positive.  When things in your life have been really good and people have been great to you, you can't help but get sad when you [...]

Decew Falls is named after John DeCou, who purchased the land in about 1788, buying 100 acres with an axe and an indian blanket. In 1812 he purchased the land along the top of the escarpment from his newly built stone house to Decew Falls.  During the war of 1812, DeCou served in the Lincoln Militia and his home served as headquarters by the British where Laura Secord brought news to in June of 1813, of a potential [...]

After publishing my post on the Marmot Connect Gloves and finding the ones I had too large for me and not as effective as I'd like them, I spoke to my favourite outdoors store contact, Jamie at Outdoors Oriented.  He advised that the gloves did indeed look too big for me and he wanted to resolve the issue for me.  Hence, why I love this place so much! I went in on Thursday after work and Jamie [...]

Just over four weeks after my knee surgery and I was dying to get out into nature. To be completely accurate, I was dying to go camping, but for now, a hike in the woods would suffice.    The last two weekends I'd Ridden my bike over 10 km's each day and my knee felt really awesome! I was hiking with a friend and a five year old so I figured I should be able to [...]

On Sunday I had a free day, which is rare for me as I have been on 13 trips so far, camping and exploring nature and have rarely been home! I decided I would ride the TC Trail in the morning and paddle in the afternoon.  I was so excited to go paddling here, its been so long, so after putting my bike away in the shed, I got my awesome little kayak up on [...]

It was a rare thing for me to have free time these days, but last Sunday, I had the whole day to myself. I had honestly assumed I would be hungover as Saturday was Grape & Wine in Niagara, a festival many locals and tourists participate in revolving around drinking wine. I ended up waking up at 715am, and felt great so I got up and decided it was a good day to go adventuring, [...]
