Since my very first backcountry trip in 2001 I have been carrying a compass in my backpack on every single trip I go on.  You would think that would make me smart, but the reality is, I have never learned how to use a compass. I was never in girl guides or scouts or brownies or participated in any type of class or course to show me how to use this amazing instrument. I have [...]

Decew Falls is named after John DeCou, who purchased the land in about 1788, buying 100 acres with an axe and an indian blanket. In 1812 he purchased the land along the top of the escarpment from his newly built stone house to Decew Falls.  During the war of 1812, DeCou served in the Lincoln Militia and his home served as headquarters by the British where Laura Secord brought news to in June of 1813, of a potential [...]

With months of anticipation, the day had finally come!  The Outdoor Adventure Show was in Toronto and I was ready to go! By recommendation of my friend at Ontario Trails, this show was a great place to network and meet contacts and with my blog CamperChristina.com still in it's first year, I wanted to make the best impression possible. I contacted my friend Stacey to help me design a logo, which would be used to put [...]

It was a gorgeous Saturday morning when I embarked on my adventure to visit Sherman Falls.  Out of all the falls in Hamilton, this one was special to me, as it and I boast the same name!  Well, mine is spelled slightly more complicated, but audibly they are one in the same! Located in Ancaster Village, Sherman falls is a 17 metre high curtain waterfall that is a feature along the area's Bruce Trail. According [...]

Not adventuring for someone like me is difficult.  Whenever I have a spare hour or two, or more, I start thinking of a place I can run off to and explore it.  But sadly, time for me,  doesn't always allow that.  Suprisingly to people who know me and are on my facebook, especially, think blogging and adventuring is my full time job.  This,  is actually not a job at all, it is what I do [...]

Rockway Conservation Area is a 126 hectare park featuring the Bruce Trail and the Rockway Falls Side Trail.  It is a beautiful place to go for a hike, boasting many water features, great hiking and wildlife. On Saturday, July 11th, 2015, my friend Beth and I decided to go for an early evening hike at Rockway.  I am unsure if there are any other places to park, other than the lot I go to which [...]
