I woke up to a beautiful day, 15 degrees in mid November!  I had had knee surgery just over 3 weeks ago and I was feeling awesome! Last weekend I had ridden the Trans Canada Trail in Fort Erie and today, I was up for a new adventure! I shuffled over to my computer and clicked on the Trans Canada Trail website to find a section of the trail I could ride my bike on, that I hadn't done [...]

Paddling in November- Beautiful Richardson Creek

I purchased my kayak in the spring of 2012 from Outdoors Oriented at their Pack and Paddle day they have annually.  It's such a great idea!  They set up a bunch of booths and have some of the line reps come out and they have a bunch of their boats at Jordan Harbour for people to test them out.  It's definitely hard to try a boat in a store and this is a great solution for that! It was a rare thing for me to have free time these days, but last Sunday, I had the whole day to myself. I had honestly assumed I would be hungover as Saturday was Grape & Wine in Niagara, a festival many locals and tourists participate in revolving around drinking wine. I ended up waking up at 715am, and felt great so I got up and decided it was a good day to go adventuring, [...]

Paddling Black Creek – during a lightening storm & a tornado warning? oh my!

On Saturday August 1st, I put my kayak up on my truck and headed to Outdoors Oriented http://outdoorsoriented.com to meet my friends Andrea and Kim.  We had made plans to go for a paddle today at the Welland Recreational Canal  http://www.canalcorp.ca/site/home, but after checking the weather forecast, I needed to make a tough decision. Do I risk paddling with new paddlers in 33km gusts in what people have called 'a wind tunnel' in an area I've never [...]

TC Trail in NOTL with Mom – biking… uh… not biking??

On Monday, August 3rd, 2015, I planned to go for a nice bike ride on the Trans Canada Trail with my mom.  A few weeks ago we were honoured with the gift of two #woodsexplorer shirts from @woods_canada to thank us for our interest in the Woods Brand and for my involvement in their growing online community.  They had asked to give one to my mom and for us to wear the shirts on our next adventure, and today [...]

Rockway Conservation Area is a 126 hectare park featuring the Bruce Trail and the Rockway Falls Side Trail.  It is a beautiful place to go for a hike, boasting many water features, great hiking and wildlife. On Saturday, July 11th, 2015, my friend Beth and I decided to go for an early evening hike at Rockway.  I am unsure if there are any other places to park, other than the lot I go to which [...]

I woke up to a beautiful day Sunday, birds chirping, sun out and the promise from the Weather Network of a warm day! I was supposed to go out for a hike with my good friend Andrea, but she advised me she was a bit under the weather and couldn't make it. As I am going on a canoe trip next, then car camping without my kayak following, I decided I needed to get out [...]
