In February, while attending the Outdoor Adventure Show, I met up with Ingo from KIHD Products. They make an amazing stick stove that I have heard nothing but good things about.  I spent some time talking to Ingo at the show and happily picked up one of their stoves to test out.  The stove I got was the KIHD Deluxe. Since receiving my concussion on January 3rd, I have not been able to go camping.  [...]

Part 1 of this trip can be found here.   This is the continuation of that post starting from the afternoon of Day 3 at my site on Big Thunder Lake. I had just arrived, set up my small footprint tarp and was sitting under it enjoying some lunch...... While eating my lunch on day 3 on Big Thunder Lake, I realized I would have to move the small footprint tarp I was using and [...]

It has taken me over a year to get to this point, but I finally made it and I am proud!  I completed my first winter backcountry trip with the tipi and it was a great adventure!   I learned so many things and experienced a bunch of firsts, some thanks to my new friend Ashley from Young Outdoors. Ashley and I met through social media quite some time ago and after many months of [...]

It's hard to believe that only 9 months ago, I had my first visit to Silent Lake!  It was a wonderful experience and I was hoping for more of the same this trip.   I had planned on going for just one night when I discovered yurt #5, the same one I stayed in, in March, was open, but there is a two night minimum for booking yurts, so I took it for two. I [...]

With all the camping I do, I can use all the savings I can find. Even if its just a few dollars here and there!  I always bring firestarter with me on every trip. It is a small item that can sometimes make or break your camping trip.  Sometimes you are in the backcountry and all the good wood has been used up, or, you just arrived after several days of rain.  Sometimes the wood [...]

Whether you are camping in a tent or glamping in a yurt, things are different in the winter, than they are in the warmer seasons.  I am very new to the whole winter camping/glamping scene but I have learned a tonne of things already and wanted to share them with you, if you are thinking of embarking on a winter camping or glamping trip.  Please feel free to comment and add your own tips at [...]

Somehow the thought of winter camping never occurred to me.  For one, I hate the cold, and for two, I don't really care for snow.  Every year when winter arrives, I hibernate along with many other warm weathered canadians who enjoy the other 3 seasons, but know that winter is a time to catch up on movies, tv series, cleaning the house, indoor DIY projects, etc.  But this year, somehow that changed.  I had been [...]

Longpoint Provincial Park is the fourth oldest park in Ontario, boasting over 1.5 km's of sandy beach!  It is one of my favourite beaches in Ontario and I have been camping at Longpoint for about 8 years straight now. The tradition was started by my friend Cynthia, who used to have a group of her friends join her there annually, and has continued on with our volleyball group, spending a few days of fun in [...]
