How to build a Tipi! CamperChristina style!
Somehow the thought of winter camping never occurred to me. For one, I hate the cold, and for two, I don't really care for snow. Every year when winter arrives, I hibernate along with many other warm weathered canadians who enjoy the other 3 seasons, but know that winter is a time to catch up on movies, tv series, cleaning the house, indoor DIY projects, etc. But this year, somehow that changed. I had been [...]

My new Pot Set – Testing it out at Bon Echo PP
I have been backcountry camping and camping in general for over 15 years. I love being out in nature and preparing cool things to eat. I rarely buy the dehydrated bags of meals as I find them loaded with salt and I tend to get migraines from them, so I do my best to get creative when cooking on my camping trips. I bought my first camping pot set about 18 years ago and have [...]

EXCITING THINGS coming up -WTH is a GO GIRL?
I'm pretty excited about all the blog posts I have yet to write! I had so many adventures this summer and there just wasn't enough time to write about every single one of them. I can not wait to share them and hopefully get you excited about the places I've been and inspire you to get outside and adventure for yourself, and, share it with others! Nature is addictive you know! I've got lots of fall [...]
My 1st solo trip- The MassasaugaPP – Afraid of the dark!
It's funny the reactions you get from people when you tell them you are going on a solo backcountry trip! I'm not 100% sure if it's because I am female, or just because people don't really understand what spending time in nature does for your soul? From the very first time I went backcountry camping in 2002, I was hooked! On that trip I was in for 5 days and stayed on 4 different lakes. [...]
GEESE GANGS & A BEAR – CAMPING AT MEW LAKE IN ALGONQUIN PARK
Every year for four years now, I pick a weekend to spend at Mew Lake in Algonquin Park. This year was no different, what was different though, were the people I was going with. I was lucky enough to have two of my most favorite people on the planet accompanying me on this adventure and we were all excited and ready to get it underway! We headed out at 5am and had a wonderful, traffic-free journey. [...]
Face to Face with a BEAR at Mew Lake Campground !! HOLY SH@%%T!!!
I woke up around 6:15 and went for my morning walk to the facilities. The washrooms were 10 sites down, one of my poorer decisions I've made when picking a campsite, but otherwise, our site was incredibly awesome! I was practically sleepwalking, I was so tired and could not wait until I could walk the other way, and get back into bed! Eventually, that time came. I was walking down the camp road and was [...]

Longpoint Provincial Park – Playing with FIRE!
Longpoint Provincial Park is the fourth oldest park in Ontario, boasting over 1.5 km's of sandy beach! It is one of my favourite beaches in Ontario and I have been camping at Longpoint for about 8 years straight now. The tradition was started by my friend Cynthia, who used to have a group of her friends join her there annually, and has continued on with our volleyball group, spending a few days of fun in [...]

Rondeau Provincial Park- how to privatize your site!
I saw a list of Canada's top 25 parks last year and Rondeau Provincial Park was on that list. I have never been there, so I decided to put a plan in motion to resolve that. My friend Beth was wanting a getaway, so we booked a site and planned our adventure. Here is the list of Canada's top 25 sites I saw: http://www.explore-mag.com/the-top-25-campsites-in-canada As I've been camping quite a bit this summer so far, [...]
Canada Day At Grundy Lake Provincial Park
At 4am on Canada Day, 2015, on a cloudy drizzly morning, I headed out, car packed, kayak on top, and mom in the passenger seat, to Grundy Lake Provincial Park in Britt, ON. I was really excited to see this park as I had joined Twitter a few months ago and someone tweeted some photos from their trip there. Once I did some research on it I was convinced it was a park I wanted [...]
