It was a Thursday night when i got the message from a fellow blogger, Let's Discover Ontario, asking if I wanted to go to the Spring Cottage Life Show. I had never heard of it, as I'm a camper and generally not a cottager, but it sounded like a great way to spend a cold rainy Saturday. I graciously accepted after receiving a yes from Peter about if he wanted to go with me. I [...]

While camping at Mew Lake during Winter in the Wild, my sitemates and myself decided to go for a hike to Starling Lookout. We packed up our backpacks and ourselves as it was a balmy -22 (better than the -42 we'd been through already) and headed out on the trail. We didn't take our snowshoes as we'd been told all the trails were well packed and they weren't needed. I was bummed but no point [...]

Looking for Winter in Utopia!- Tiffin Conservation Area

I spent some time at Arrowhead Provincial Park snowshoeing a few sundays ago and I had waited months to do it.  Now that I had, it seems I am addicted.  And it wasn't only the snowshoeing, but the winter wonderland I had done it in.  The problem is, where I live, there is barely any snow, definitely not enough to go snowshoeing in and not even close to a winter wonderland.  The only solution I could come [...]

If someone had told me a year ago that I would go winter camping, or glamping, in this case, I would've said they were crazy.  Up until this year, it has never crossed my mind to even attempt adventuring in the snow, and now I have done it and am actually even camping in a tent for my next two trips!  Being in nature in the snow is truly magical and I now understand why [...]

Virtual Hike at Woodend – Laura Secord, TCT, Wetland Ridge AND Bruce Trail? WOW!

One day after work I decided to go for a hike at Woodend Conservation Area.  Woodend is one of my favourite 'quick & easy' places to hike. It is right beside a major highway and just on the outskirts of St. Catharines in Niagara On The Lake, Ontario, but it still feels like I am in the forest when I am there (minus the sounds of the traffic). The weather wasn't the best, but so far [...]

Balsam Trail – Gorgeous Fall Colours in Parry Sound!

I have never officially hiked in Parry Sound until this Thanksgiving.  My good friend Katies family visits a cottage in McKellar, Ontario, every thanksgiving and last year invited me along.  Since I behaved myself so well, they invited me back again this year and I was super excited to be there! This year I had been adventuring all summer and was pretty much away every weekend, or already had plans to do something while at [...]

Mountainview Cons Area – Awesome Bruce Trail Hike!!

When I was a wee thing in my single digits, my family used to rent a cottage on Green Lake, Up North, Ontario.  LOL. My parents would spend alot of time fishing while we were there and my mom didn't like the boat so much. My dad and brother would fish in the boat and drop my mom and I off on the shore nearby.  My mom would fish and I would play in the [...]

Every year for four years now, I pick a weekend to spend at Mew Lake in Algonquin Park. This year was no different, what was different though, were the people I was going with. I was lucky enough to have two of my most favorite people on the planet accompanying me on this adventure and we were all excited and ready to get it underway! We headed out at 5am and had a wonderful, traffic-free journey. [...]

Ragged Falls Provincial Park – So beautiful!

On Monday August 24th, my mom and I stopped by to check out one of our favourite places in Algonquin Park, well, just outside of Algonquin Park, called Ragged Falls! Ragged Falls Provincial Park is it's own separate provincial park, however, if you have a day pass for any provincial park, it can be used for all of them.  Therefore, we didn't have to pay the parking fee to spend some time there, which is [...]

Newly added to the long list of trails in Algonquin Park is the Fire Tower Trail!  On Tuesday August 25th, 2015, my mom and I visited the trail to check it out! The trail is located to the left of the Visitor Centres front doors. This new trail is small but mighty! Only 200 metres long round trip, but it is full of information about the history of fire towers in the park.  The trail [...]
