About a month ago, my friends from Niagara came up for Galentines weekend. I took them to Arrowhead for a day of winter fun!  While we were there, I saw a sign with the dates for the remainder of the years Fire and Ice.

The last date listed was Thursday, March 9th…. my birthday!  I knew right away that is what I wanted to do for my birthday this year!

A few days after that weekend, I sent a message to my Muskoka friend Sam to see if she would come with me. She was free and all in and I was totally stoked!!!!

Eventually, it was time to go and I was more excited than ever.  We had had a few days of rain and very warm temperatures and I honestly didn’t think the trail would be open. The day before I sent a tweet to Arrowhead and asked and Thursday morning, they replied saying YES, it would be open!!! WOOHOO

We arrived just after six and it was still a bit light out which was great!  We got our permit and then drove to the skating trail, super excited to check it out!

We parked the car and walked to the trail.  Here is what we saw upon approaching it!

Sam was right, it was gorgeous and definitely romantic and surprisingly, not very busy at all.

We went into the area where we would put on our skates, and got them on so we could get going!

With our skates on, we were ready to go!!! YAY!

It was truly magical and I was in awe!!!

We skated around and around, lap after lap, not being able to quite get enough of it all.

And just when I thought it couldn’t get any better…. the moon showed itself!!!

It brightened up the sky and lit up the trail even more and made the skating trail look like something out of a Disney movie.

Sam took a few pictures of me goofing around, and then I took some of her.

After a few hours and many laps, we headed back to take off our skates and put our boots back on.

I was so very happy we’d come here tonight.  It was a memory I will cherish for a very long time.

I hope you enjoyed coming to check out the skating trail at Arrowhead with me during Fire and Ice.  If you want to get in touch, please leave a comment and I will get back to you as soon as I am able to.
