On Sunday August 30th, my friends and I headed out to Big Pines Trail in Algonquin Provincial Park!
I was pretty excited to hike this trail. I had never actually done it that I can recall and I love trees, especially pines, so I was really looking forward to it.
I was definitely not disappointed and both myself and my friends who did the trail with me thoroughly enjoyed it so far!
Upon arriving at this crooked tree, my friend Kim decided it would be a good one to perform a hanging tree hug on. She dropped her pack and jumped up and I thought it was pretty cool! When she got down just seconds after I took her photo, she advised me that it was quite painful and I probably shouldn’t do it. I, in turn, took that as an invitation to give it a go and got up there and got a quick picture as well. She was right! It was painful. I was left with what I decided to call Tree Tatoos all over my arms. Kim had them as well. They burned for about an hour and then slowly faded, being replaced with yellowish green bruises a few days later. Still worth the cool photos, I think! Tree hugger for life!!! LMAO!
We continued on the trail, loving every minute of it. There were massive trees everywhere and all types of neat flora and fauna.
Then the sun came out, which always makes things a little bit nicer. Shortly after that, we came up to an open area where we pulled out the binoculars to scan for critters, but came up with no wildlife, only beautiful views. I was satisfied with those though, and took some pictures to capture the moments.
We continued on the trail through the woods, enjoying it fully. The trail had a lot to offer, and we appreciated all of it’s features!
As all things eventually do, the trail came to an end. I took a few last photos for the blog and then we headed to the car…. ready to relax at the beautiful East Beach Picnic Area and hopefully go for a swim in the crystal clear waters! In Algonquin, there is always another awesome adventure waiting just around the corner!
