Brydon’s Bay Trail – Mom visits Port Carling!

Since I moved to Port Carling in May, my mom has not been to visit.  She doesn’t have a vehicle and getting a bus or train here isn’t really the best option.  As it takes me about 3 hours to get to her and 3 hours to get back, going to pick her up, and drop her off has not been an option either, so it’s been tough. We haven’t been able to do much adventuring or go camping since the move as we generally do that sort of thing up here and I’ve been very sad about that.

A few weeks ago, my moms friend Robin had an event she was going to with her brother in Orillia and asked my mom if she wanted to get a ride with them. They were coming up on a Saturday and leaving on a Sunday. My mom messaged me and jumped at the chance, as did I and a few days later I was on my way to Orillia to pick her up.

Before heading out to pick her up, I did a bit of research online and found a trail en route called Brydons Bay Trail.

So we headed there first and went for a nice hike before heading to Port Carling.

It was a gorgeous fall day! The sun was shining and the air was crisp.

We headed out on our adventure following the well marked trail.

We checked out all the cool things along the way.

And stopped for a rest on this cool bench that was on the trail.

Then I stole this idea from my friend Tony from Let’s Discover Ontario, and recorded a leaf crunching video, cause it was just way too much fun!

We came across some very cool mushrooms. One tree had several different types and colors of them growing on it.

We walked on enjoying the day and our time together. The trail was small but very quaint and full of character.

Just like my mom. I had missed hiking with her up north so much!  🙂

I found this really neat mushroom growing on the side of a dead tree. I’d never seen one grow like this and am curious if anyone knows what it is?

Even though it was late in the season, a lot of colorful leaves still remained.

I was ready for them to be covered with snow!!!  LOL

A few more twists and turns and we were back where we started.

The trail took us less than an hour to hike, but I really enjoyed my time on it. My mom liked it alot as well.  She said it was easy and didn’t have too many steep hills which made her happy.  Just in case you might be thinking of taking your mom here! LOL

Thanks for coming along on our hike with us. I hope you enjoyed it and come back to visit soon.  Next week I’ll be posting my December camping trip to Big East Lake where I got to paddle through ice!!!   So cool!

If you have any questions or would like to say hi, please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as I am able to!

Happy Hiking!

    1. HAHAHA heck no! My dad used to try and drag her north and she hated it! I’m not sure what changed her mind about coming with me. Guess she was just stuck at home and didn’t care where she went. My dad has taught me a few things but mostly, I’ve learned from books, blogs, online and from others. 🙂 Thanks for commenting and for checking it out!
