The NEW Fire Tower Trail in Algonquin Park!

Newly added to the long list of trails in Algonquin Park is the Fire Tower Trail!  On Tuesday August 25th, 2015, my mom and I visited the trail to check it out! The trail is located to the left of the Visitor Centres front doors.

This new trail is small but mighty! Only 200 metres long round trip, but it is full of information about the history of fire towers in the park.  The trail has a lovely boardwalk making it accessible to most people.

The plaques located throughout the trail show pictures of the original towers that were used in the park to help fight fires. They also advise people of how the towers were used, where they were located and give people a general idea of how things used to be, before modern technology.

There are two lookouts, one is open to the elements and the other is the actual tower and is enclosed.  Both areas have benches where you can sit and enjoy the view and take a few moments to read the information provided and learn a bit of history about the fire towers in the park.

I really enjoyed my visit to the Fire Tower Trail and learned a great deal about the fire towers that used to be located in the park.  I hope when you are going through the park, you are able to take some time out of your schedule and visit the trail yourself and learn a bit about the history of Fire Towers in Algonquin Park!

Thanks for reading my post!  As always, if you have any questions, comments, feedback, criticisms, I would love to hear from you!

Happy Hiking!
