Peck Lake Trail – Algonquin Provincial Park!

On Sunday August 23rd, 2015, my mom and I took a spin around Peck Lake Trail in Algonquin Park. We have done it many times and it is one of our favourite trails in the park.  It is very scenic and not too difficult for mom, who’s about to turn 70 this year!  Last year when we were there we saw a humming bird, her first one ever and it was really exciting to see! The trail starts out flat and opens up to a lovely view of the lake and a bench to sit and relax and take in the view.

The next part of the trail is a bit of a steep descent down to the water, but then it is  fairly level throughout and there are only a few small ups and downs to conquer.

Around every corner you are rewarded with beautiful views of Peck Lake.

The trail is a 1.9 km loop that goes all around the lake and is rated moderate.  Guidebooks for all of Algonquin Parks trails can be purchased many places, including the Friends of Algonquin Park Website for a whopping $0.48!! Go ahead and splurge!

There are a few boardwalks and bridges that take you over shallow water along the way with more lovely views!

You weave in and out of the forest and continuously arrive at openings where you can see different areas of the lake and picture perfect locations!

Here’s mom using her walking stick purchased at Algonquin Outfitters store at Lake of Two Rivers last year.  She loves it and it helps her a great deal when going over big rocks, roots and up hills.  The day before she had used it to walk on a  log over a river at the Beetle Lake trail as the bridge was removed due to structural damage.  She totally rocks!

Just a short trek back up the hill and again we are back at the bench to take a photo and say ‘see you soon’ to beautiful Peck Lake!
